My family was fortunate to have Kim as a speech therapist for two of my children at different times. We first had her for my daughter with Down Syndrome. By the time she started preschool she was able to better express her basic needs with Kim's help. A couple years later we were lucky to have Kim again for my son with a speech delay. My son's speech flourished after working with Kim. Through her play-based therapy approach, each session was engaging, fun, and thoughtfully designed to meet each of our child's needs, making it easy for them to learn and participate without pressure. Our daughter was struggling with stuttering, and finding Mrs. Kim was such a gift to our family. From the very first session, she gave our daughter simple, practical tools that she could understand and actually use. We started seeing a difference almost immediately, and within a month, her stuttering had completely stopped. My daughter has been seeing Kim for speech for 2 years now, and we love her! She has made so much progress and grown in skill and confidence. Kim is great at making speech fun, and interacting with little kids. My daughter loves playing with Kim and is learning so much.

Kim gives us specific things to work on with her, and that really helps us as parents to be involved and be able to work on the skills throughout the week. When we first started looking for speech therapy for my youngest, he had a severe speech delay. We tried multiple speech therapy locations near our home, but unfortunately, we just weren’t seeing the progress we had hoped for. As a mom, it was incredibly hard watching him struggle to communicate and wondering if other people could understand him.

Then, through a couple of friends from church, we heard about Mrs. Kim. We were able to get him scheduled with her, and it has been one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.

We are now about a year into therapy, and honestly, his speech is almost unrecognizable compared to where he was last year. He pronounces his words more clearly, slows down to make sure he is saying them correctly, and something that means SO much to me is that he can now be understood by his peers and by people who don’t know him. Mrs. Kim’s Art of Pronunciation program has helped him so much. The strategies and practice have made such a difference in his clarity and confidence that I am now including the program with my students at the school where I teach! But what makes Mrs. Kim so special goes far beyond speech therapy. Over this past year, she has become family to us. She has loved our son, encouraged him, celebrated every little victory with us, and genuinely cared about him as if he were her own. We are so incredibly thankful that God placed her in our lives.

It has been more than ten years since Kim worked with my son through Early Intervention, when he was between one and three years old, but she is still someone our family remembers with so much love and gratitude.

When your child is that young and struggling with communication and basic skills like feeding, you don’t always know what they need or what the future is going to look like. Kim didn’t just work with my son—she helped us understand him, meet him where he was, and learn how to support his communication and development in our everyday lives.
